More Shows From The Time Out Archives

Here are several more shows from the Time Out Archives. Most of these date back from 2000 or 2001.

Before we get to the shows, I want to let everybody know the URL for Time Out Productions official presence on YouTube. Go check them out. The addy is www.youtube.com/kgallagher01.

The first two shows in this set that I'm posting seem to go together very well. First is a show I did with the late Cliff Hurgin, who was a six term First Selectman for the town of Bethel. The town's municiple center is named after him in his honor.

The show covers in depth how the town's budget process works and how in fact it is a 365 day process and not just something that happens when people go to the polls to vote on the proposed town & education budgets.

* Please also note that there was some damage to the video tape that these shows were copied from, so at time the video results could be spotty. If and when I find a better quality version, I will get those posted.

Cliff Hurgin Budget Show

Next is a show from around the same time period with the former Bethel Superintendent of schools Bob Gilcrest discussing the budget issues for the Bethel school system.

Bob Gilcrest School Budget Show

Next up is a show I did with Peg Daley, who at the time of the taping (circa 1999) was the six year chair woman of the Housatonic Valley Economic Development Commission. Their website is www.HVEDP.org.

Peg Daley

Over the years that the show has been on the air, local attorney Jeff Heyel has been on covering different subjects. Mr. Heyel is a civil rights attorney and on this show we took the time to explore what the American With Disabilities Act is.

Time Out Pro Bethel Campaign Show From 1997

This show once again featured Pro Bethel Party chairman Bob Crnic and Joe Coniglio speaking on the election issues of the day. Bob was at that time making his first run for the office of First Selectman and Joe Coniglio was running for a spot on the town's Board of Finance.

The First Show of 1997

This was the the first show of 1997 with Bob Crnic and Mike Duff covering the issues of the day. These shows are always a great look back in time to see what the issues of the day were. Again, because the show is some 11 years old, the very beginning of the show has some damage. What the ravages of time will do to video tape! :(

Time Out Gene Eriquez From 10-27-2000

This is an interview conducted with former Danbury, Connecticut mayor Gene Eriquez on the issues of the day. Over the years Mayor Eriquez was one the program, he was always very gracious and always made time to be on the program.

Time Out Y2K Show

Now that it is almost September of 2008, I'll bet few of us have given much thought to the computer term "Y2K." This was on all of our minds back in 1999. Here is a show that I did with internet expert Bob Brand in early December of 1999 and aired later in the month on how to prepare for that dreaded Y2K bug.

Time Out Geraldine Mills Town Clerk 2001

From the 2001 elections: this is an interview with the Pro Bethel Party's candidate for Bethel, Connecticut Town Clerk Geraldine F. Mills.

Pro Bethel Party 2001 Press Conference

This is a Pro Bethel Party press conference at the their headquarters from 2001. The headquarters that year were next to Famous Pizza in the P.T. Barnum Square. Covered in the press conference were mainly Bethel school and educational issues. Featured are Pro Bethel Party Chairman Bob Crnic, Jim Bryan, then incumbent Selectman running for re-election and candidates for the Board of Education.

Recently I posted an interview of the late Denis Riordan, who was the Chairman of Bethel's Planning and Zoning Commission. In 1998 I did a set of two shows with Mr. Riordan and Jonathan Chew. Mr. Chew at the time of the taping was the Executive Director of the Housatonic Council of Elected Officials.

More Shows New And Old

Hello everyone! :)

Here are the latest shows...

David A. Stevenson Interview

This is an interview I just did (and has not aired yet on local television) with 107th District Democrat candidate David A. Stevenson. Covered on the program is why he is running and what he feels are the important issues to the district and the campaign.

John McGowan Presents Show For 22 August 2008

This is the 22 August 2008 Edition of John McGowan Presents. Covered on the program were a variety of subjects.

John McGowan Presents For 15 August 2008

I co-host John McGowan's program "John McGowan Presents..." and this is the show from 15 August 2008.

Now more from the Time Out Productions archives:

I have not made a post since the 17th of August. During that time, I have been very busy converting many of my old shows from video tape to an uploadable digital format suitable for services like YouTube.

During the past week or so that I've been converting shows, I've come across several older gems. It is a real pleasure to be able to share these with you now.

From 1998: Former Head Librarian Alice Knapp With Wendy Reynolds

This is an interview with then head Librarian Alice Knapp and Friends of The Library member Wendy Reynolds on the Bethel Public Library and its future.

From 2001: An Interview With Current Head Librarian Lynn Rosato

Time Out Mayor Mark Boughton 2005

This is a 2005 interview with Danbury, Connecticut Mayor Mark Boughton. Covered on the program were the issues of the day.

Time Out Presents Local Trains 2005

This is a show that I've always though was very kool because it featured color film footage of the trains running through Bethel, Danbury and Ridgefield dating as far back as 1948! Joining me on the show was local railway expert Dan Gallo.

Time Out Live Call In Show From 7 November 2005

This was the live one hour morning call in show from 7 November 2005. This was the day before the municiple elections and covered during the show were several of the more contested campaigns.

Joint Meeting Between The Bethel Board Of Selectman & The Bethel Golf Authority On 11 December 2000

One of the most rewarding times I have personally experienced was the fight I undertook with many others from both Bethel and Danbury to stop the building of a golf course of all things on the Terre Haute property that sits in Bethel and Danbury.

Below is most of a meeting that was held on the 11th of December 2000 between the now (thank God) disbanded Bethel Golf Authority and the Bethel Board of Selectmen. Its important to note that this meeting took place after the Bethel voters had overwhelmingly voted down the BGA's Golf Course proposal. Please bear this in mind when watching the video.

Time Out Live From 11 February 1998

This is the live call in show from 11 February 1998. Covered on the program are the issues of the day. Watching a show like this from a little more than ten years ago proves two basic things; first that these live shows in many ways act like a snap shot in time and second, that the old saying about how the more things change, the more they stay the same is really very true indeed.

Liba Furman powerALERT Shows

The year 1997 had many good shows and some of these were very activist oriented. On this two part program was former New Milford Mayor Liba Furhman. She headed a group called powerALERT that opposed a power station being built and they actually won and had the proposal shot down. From what I've seen, it is rare for the citizens to win these kinds of cases.

Bob Crnic Conversation On Iraq And Other Issues

Over the years that the show has been on, Bob Crnic, the co-founder and Chairman of the Pro Bethel Party has been a very regular guest. You would see him on nearly every live show. This show was aired in 2002 after 9-11 and before the invasion and now occupation of Iraq.

Bethel High School Soccer Coach Ray Flanigan

Also from 1997 are two shows I did with then Bethel High School Soccer Coach Ray Flanigan who coached his team to being ranked nationally to #6 in the nation. The first show is with Mr. Flanigan and two of his three tri-captians.

Time Out Live 4 December 1996

Since the beginnings of the show, the live call in format has always been a staple. I have always much enjoyed doing these live shows because of the uncontrolled, unpredictable format where literally anything can and will happen. Here is an early live show from late 1996:

Time Out Live 5 March 1997

Speaking of being unpredictable, this early live show is a great example. Late in the program, then fellow access producer Barbara Monsky (who was murdered by her neighbor a few years ago) calls in with a bone to pick with myself and those on camera that evening.

Alan Schlesinger 1996

Time Out Productions Interviews Congressional Candidate Alan Schlesinger in 1996.

The First Cigar Show

This is one of those shows that I was able to have a lot of fun with because it is not the type of show that one normally sees on access television. These are the types of shows that I enjoy doing the most. One the program was a very interesting look at how cigars are made and their long history. On the show is cigar importer Thomas Sullivan.

Danbury Judge of Probate Diane Yamin

From 1998: This is an interview With Diane Yamin, the Judge of Probate for the City of Danbury, Connecticut.

Mortgage Show

This is an interview with a mortgage broker and real estate lawyer on how to have your real estate purchase go smoothly. Contains useful information everyone should know. Taped in 2006.

Denis Riordan 1996

Time Out Productions interview with then Bethel, Connecticut Planning & Zoning Chairman in 1996 on the issues facing the Planning & Zoning Commission. At the time this was taped I was also an alternate on the commission. Featured on the program is the late Denis Riordan in 1996. Mr. Riordan lost his battle with cancer in November of 2002. I dedicate this show to his memory.

1996 Elections Wrap Up Show

This is the 1996 Time Out Elections wrap up show which aired on 8 November 1996. On the program was Bob Crnic, speaking on the Congressional race then between Gary Franks and Jim Maloney. (Maloney won) Also covered were several other Connecticut issues. It is a fascinating look back in time to the important issues of the day.

Shalamazoo 2007

This is the live performance of Joe Shaboo children's book "Shalamazoo" as performed at the Ives Center in Danbury, Connecticut in July, 2007. I did the graphics for the special.

For more information about Shalamazoo, please see the official webpage at http://shalamazoo.com.

2001 NFL Draft Top Picks Interviews

In 2001, I had gotten press passes for the TV show to cover the NFL Draft. Below are parts of four interviews that were with the top four draft picks that year. The first video is of the now infamous Michael Vick and his first interview with the assembled sports media:

The 2nd overall pick was Leonard Davis, picked by the Azizona Cardinals:

The 3rd overall pick was LaDanian Tomlison, of the San Diego Chargers and his interview with the sports media:

This is the interview #4 overall pick Justin Smith, of the Cincinnati Bengals and his interview with the sports media:

These are the first two shows I did with the Danbury Historical Society. The shows were done with then director Maryanne Root.

Phil Gallagher Rant Against Senior Tax Relief On 26 March 2001

The Selectman Phil Gallagher's rant during the 26 March 2001 Board Of Selectmen Meeting on why Bethel's Seniors should not receive tax relief.

The entire BOS Meeting is shown here, including public comments at the start of the meeting, in order to present his rant in its context.

It is said attitude is everything and this is further proof of this - especially from publically elected officials.

Mr. Gallagher is currently the Bethel, CT Finance Board Chairman.

Seymour Hersh On The Insanity Of VP Cheney

This is a truly amazing short clip of reporter Seymour Hersh talking about how VP Cheney and his neocon buddies were kicking around a few ideas on how to get the United States involved in another war with Iran, using the element of a false flag event to suck the US into it - in order to have the support of the people.

If you have never heard of a "False Flag Event", here is the description of what it is from Wikipedia:

False flag operations are covert operations conducted by governments, corporations, or other organizations, which are designed to appear as though they are being carried out by other entities. The name is derived from the military concept of flying false colors; that is, flying the flag of a country other than one's own. False flag operations are not limited to war and counter-insurgency operations, and have been used in peace-time; for example, during Italy's strategy of tension.

Examples Of False Flag Attacks As Pretexts For War

In the 1931 Mukden incident, Japanese officers fabricated a pretext for annexing Manchuria by blowing up a section of railway. Six years later, they falsely claimed the kidnapping of one of their soldiers in the Marco Polo Bridge Incident as an excuse to invade China proper.

In the Gleiwitz incident in August 1939, Reinhard Heydrich made use of fabricated evidence of a Polish attack against Germany to mobilize German public opinion and to fabricate a false justification for a war with Poland. This, along with other false flag operations in Operation Himmler would be used to mobilize support from the German population for the start of World War II in Europe.

On November 26, 1939 the Soviet Union shelled the Russian village of Mainila near the Finnish border. The Soviet Union attacked Finland four days after the Shelling of Mainila. Some Russian historians have claimed that the Finns shelled themselves with the intent of later attacking the Soviet Union. This theory is not shared by most historians, and Russia has agreed that the attack was initiated by the Soviets. Also, the nearest Finnish artillery pieces were well outside the range needed to shell Mainila.

In 1953, the U.S. and British-orchestrated Operation Ajax used "false-flag" and propaganda operations against the democratically elected leader of Iran, Mohammed Mosaddeq. Information regarding the CIA-sponsored coup d'etat has been largely declassified and is available in the CIA archives.[3]

In 1954, Israel sponsored bombings against US and UK interests in Cairo aiming to cause trouble between Egypt and the West.[4] This operation, latter dubbed the Lavon Affair cost Israeli defense minister Pinhas Lavon his job. Israel (where it is known as "The Unfortunate Affair") finally admitted responsibility in 2005.[5]

The planned, but never executed, 1962 Operation Northwoods plot by the U.S. Department of Defense for a war with Cuba involved scenarios such as hijacking a passenger plane, sinking a U.S. ship, burning crops and blaming such actions on Cuba. It was authored by the Joint Chiefs of Staff, nixed by John F. Kennedy, came to light through the Freedom of Information Act and was publicized by James Bamford.

Former GRU officer Aleksey Galkin[6], former FSB officer Alexander Litvinenko [7] and other whistleblowers from the Russian government and security services have asserted that the 1999 Russian apartment bombings that precipitated the Second Chechen War were false flag operations perpetrated by the FSB, the successor organization to the KGB. Galkin has since then, recanted these accusations which he had asserted when a prisoner of Chechen rebels.

Terrorism And False Flag Operations

During the Italian strategy of tension in which several bombings in the 1970s, attributed to far-left organizations, were in fact carried out by far-right organizations cooperating with the Italian secret services (see Operation Gladio, 1969 Piazza Fontana bombing, 1972 Peteano attack by Vincenzo Vinciguerra, 1973 assassination attempt of former Interior Minister Mariano Rumor, 1980 Bologna massacre, etc. and various investigations, for example by Guido Salvini). In France, the Masada Action and Defense Movement, supposedly a Zionist group, was really a neo-fascist terrorist group which hoped to increase tension between Arabs and Jews in France.

False flag tactics were also employed during the Algerian civil war, starting in the mid-1994. Death squads composed of DRS (Département du Renseignement et de la Sécurité) security forces disguised themselves as Islamist terrorists and committed false flag terror attacks. Such groups included the OJAL (Organisation of Young Free Algerians) or the OSSRA (Secret Organisation for the safeguard of the Algerian Republic) [18] According to Roger Faligot and Pascal Kropp (1999), the OJAL reminded of "the Organization of the French Algerian Resistance (ORAF), a group of counter-terrorists created in December 1956 by the Direction de la surveillance du territoire (Territorial Surveillance Directorate) whose mission was to carry out terrorist attacks with the aim of quashing any hopes of political compromise." [19]

On the night of Feb. 27, 1933 the Reichstag building was set on fire. At the urging of Hitler, Hindenburg responded the next day by issuing an emergency decree “for the Protection of the people and the State,” which stated: “Restrictions on personal liberty, on the right of free expression of opinion, including freedom of the press; on the rights of assembly and association; and violations of the privacy of postal, telegraphic and telephonic communications and warrants for house searches, orders for confiscations as well as restrictions on property, are also permissible beyond the legal limits otherwise prescribed.” After 74 years, the question of who actually started the Reichstag fire is still unknown and occasionally debated.

There are various theories which say the September 11, 2001 attacks on the US were a false flag operation.
